bula bula bula

fiji is blessed with 333 magnificent islands, some inhabited, most not. the minute you arrive, every local you walk by will greet you with a "bula" meaning hello, i've never met such a friendly and happy bunch in all my life. set in the tropical south Ppacific, fiji is a tropical island paradise with white sandy beaches, blue waters and swaying coconut trees. i am here for 5 days and am going to lap up every minute of it. so long winter! summer vinaka!

15 x 15

that's not the porcelain face of some nobody trying to sell you makeup. that's daphne guinness trying to sell you the new $23US purple eye shadow françois nars made for and named after her. i would die a happy bunny if nars decided to name something after me.. for those who aren't quite sure who miss guinness is shes a heiress, socialite and irish descent of the guinness family. nars recently collaborated with daphne on his 15X15 project in celebration of nars cosmetics’ 15th anniversary. i cant believe they have been around this long.

my favourite makeup will be opening its first store in november on bleecker street in new york city. they will be doing products that are only available in the store like palettes and maybe even a nail polish called bleecker street, he wants to sell dvds of his favorite movies and sell marc jacob accessories, sounds like a heaven! nars is currently working on a book at the moment, tittled 'makeovers for 64 different women'. im very excited!

how nude!

popstars and cokeheads

greg mike from new york city grew up amongst the street artists and skate kids of the 80's. greg started off by tagging on just about anything he could get his fingers on, later he moved his street art onto soda cans hence the name 'popstars and cokeheads'. the cans took off, finding homes in galleries and private collections. check out his stuff here.

"I started with two or three cans, which quickly grew to 10, and then 20. Soon enough I had an entire army of Mad Cans. Everyday, new ideas, characters and concepts would flood my thoughts. I lassoed my ADD, and decided to create a series of cans with a goal of 100 in mind. The small cans inspired me to take it to the next level and create the 3ft tall large cans that I will be debuting in San Francisco."

prada me silly

everyday on the way to work i walk past Prada and other amazing luxury stores. even though the latest campaign for Prada is all out of focus which slightly drives me mad, i cannot avoid the bright and pouty orange lip that is summer 2010. well for the other side of the world anyway.

Prada is one of the most influential labels you could splurge on that is associated with luxury and sophistication. the label concentrates more on bright orange lipstick and bright green sunglasses rather than clothes and accessories which i love.

YSL lippys will get you going.....

GLOSS VOLUPTÉ sheer sensual gloss stick in tangy orange
thanks to fluid silicones and melting microcrystalline waxes, gloss volupté leaves your lips feeling silky with a non sticky shine

ROUGE VOLUPTÉ silky sensual radiant lipstick in orange shiver
a creamy lipstick that leaves your lips nourished, feeling smooth and soft, and looking glossy.

FARD À LÈVRES ROUGE PUR pure lipstick in indian orange
lip colour and care in one, rouge pur stays fresh for hours while ensuring hydration and protection to the lips.

hey you! nice ears!

pink hot raccoons

lanvin fall winter 2010 shows off an amazing dramatic makeup, flaunting dark raccoon eyes and punchy pink lips.

to create this dark smokey eye you will need to start preping your canvas to ensure an easy application of makeup and for long lasting results. to do this i use a mac prep and prime all over the lid using either my finger or concealer brush.
i then powder under the eyes if i have already done my foundation, don't worry if this is messy its here to catch your fall out.

neutralizing the eye apply a soft, neutral eye shadow with a simple eye shadow brush all over the mobile lid and up to the eye brow. take a light shadow with a high shimmer through it and apply to the inner corners of the eyes and under eyebrows for an opalescent highlight, unless you wish to bring the smokey eye up over the eye brows as seen in lavins winter campaign.

now there are several methods of creating a smokey eye and many different products, but for now im going to use a shader brush to apply greasepaint stick over the eyelid. continue using shader brush with greasepaint stick through the crease, greasepaint is a smooth and creamy black eye crayon that provides ultra-high-level coverage, this is also from mac.
apply smolder eye kohl through the waterline of the upper and lower lashline, and then use a short shader brush to blend greasepaint stick through the upper and lower lashes.
i would then layer a dark kohl shadow on top such as carbon from mac, this will set the product, protecting it from smudging or moving.

finish the eyes with a generous coat of black mascara on both upper and lower lashes. i would recommend dior show. now wipe away your powder from under your eyes and remember its not only the products but the tools you use that are just as important.

other options for a smokey eye would be to just use a eye shadow such as the carbon mentioned earlier, the shadow is so highly pigmented that the colour comes out solid blackness, you could use black track fluid line from mac also, i love that product to death, you could use cream colour base which is a cream shadow from mac that is versatile and multi-purpose, can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturiser, or powder. applied with a brush, sponge, or fingers - colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application. okey one more before i go on all day, paint pots all though they do tend to move but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, i'd dab a gloss on top and go for the wet greasy look. so much fun.
